As we all know, Sarah Cudbill has rats as well as mice, and is equally successful with them. On 15 December she won Best in Show at the NFRS Annual Cup show at Meldreth with a Hooded., beating a very good entry of 84 varieties, 8 Provisional and 77 pets.
Heading her winnings was this lovely trophy. The plaque reads
THE NATIONAL FANCY RAT SOCIETY
PRESENTED BY
JOHN KELLETT & FRANK HAWLEY
There is no date.
I recall seeing just such a trophy in John Kellett’s display cabinet, which set me wondering if there were two, one for the rats and one for mice. If so, I wonder where the mouse one is?
The makers of the trophy were John & Lynn Bickley, names not familiar to me and probably not involved with the mouse fancy. The phone number pre-dates the STD dialling codes, which were fully operational by 1979, so likely before that date.
Can anyone shed any more light on this? I’m appealing to our more senior members!
