NMC News Publication

The printed NMC News magazine has been the main form of communication for us for many years.
Today, this era ends with the last issue of the NMC News landing on your doorsteps.
The discontinuation of the printed magazine presents some challenges but also some opportunities. Firstly, we cannot allow members who do not have access to the internet, to miss out on news, show reports and schedules. Thankfully, Steve Goss has volunteered to put together a monthly printed newsletter with pertinent infos, which he will print out and post to offline members. Since this is far less efficient than having a magazine published by a professional printer, we will limit this service to those members who we know have no access to the internet. We have identified 9 members who meet this condition.
As I announced in last month’s issue, the NMC News will now go fully digital. Steve will be our new editor, vetting any content that is submitted for publication. We will go from a monthly release to a blog format, where new content is released immediately and subscribers are informed via email about any new articles, show reports, etc.
As the new format is basically free, i.e. does not incur any cost for printing and postage, the NMC News will now be free for all, and visible to the public. You will find a new tick box in your account to subscribe or unsubscribe to email notifications. There will also be an unsubscribe link at the bottom of each email. I will try and subscribe everyone, so you don’t have to. This subscription is not for the blog itself. It is only for email notifications. You will find the NMC News menu link on the website, whether you have subscribed to email notifications or not.
Since we must protect the privacy of our members (and remain GDPR compliant), all names of fanciers will be masked from non-members.
I had a busy month going through all existing articles and show reports, vetting content, masking names for public viewers and making sure articles are fit for public consumption. I think I have caught everything, but should you find anything you think should not be public, please tell me! Just so you know, I deleted some older show reports to save me the arduous task of name-masking. 14 recent show reports remain available online. New show reports will have all names masked automatically.
For those who have a running subscription, the plan is, we will convert the amount owed to days of membership. I will start to convert memberships from mid-July. Should you prefer to be reimbursed for the owed amount, please let me know before July 15th. Should you have any other question, please don’t hesitate to reach out. My phone number is 07394 672693, my email is clubsec@thenationalmouseclub.co.uk and I am also available via WhatsApp and Messenger.
Please continue to send in material, which you can either enter directly into the website (let me know if you wish to and I will make you a contributor) or send to Steve via email or in the post. Also, please feel free to use the comment section to have your say!
