General Comments

Thank you to [log in to see names] for having me judge a thoroughly enjoyable day. It was a pleasure to judge alongside [log in to see names] and [log in to see names]. I was lucky enough to have some outstanding mice in my sections, one of which was an excellent Dutch by [log in to see names] that went on to win Best in Show. Easily one of the best of its variety I think I’ve seen, a real credit to [log in to see names]! The majority of the mice I judged were fit and healthy. However, there were a few cases of mites/lice. Although contagious, this is a really easy issue to treat. If your struggling with mites/lice don’t be afraid to ask a more experienced fancier for advice, they will be more than happy to help.

Marked

Dutch Ad – 4

1st place was truly a stand out mouse, a superb example of its variety.
1st [log in to see names] B Cin. This mouse went on to win Best in Show. Good size and structure. Near perfect to the standard. One notable point was the excellent high up saddle which was straight all round. Stops were good! R cheek pulled ever so slightly under and jowl and there was a flec of colour on the tail stop, where the colours changed. But these really were minor faults.
2nd [log in to see names] B Black. A beautifully well behaved mouse! Lovely to handle, I almost wanted to take it home. Markings were decent all round, but not to the quality of 1st. It was also behind on size to 1st. A worthy contender.
3rd [log in to see names] B Blue. Decent saddle, L ear White. R Cheek marking pulled back behind ear. Low stops. That being said it was still a good mouse.

Dutch U8 – 5

1st [log in to see names] D Black. In lovely condition! Saddle was nice and straight under. Short stop on right foot held back in the grand challenge. otherwise a very nice example of a Dutch.
2nd [log in to see names] D Blue. Saddle was jagged, L cheek pulls slightly behind ear and just into whisker bed.
3rd [log in to see names] D Blue. Saddle under was straight, and stops good. Both cheeks pull back behind the ears.

Broken Marked Ad – 6

3 absent in this class.
1st [log in to see names] B Black, 10 spot. The best placement and distribution of spots. Under was laddery.
2nd [log in to see names] B Choc, 4 spot. Good placement of spots. A rather fat mouse, otherwise nice.
3rd [log in to see names] D Black, 7 spot mouse. Nose spot merges over from L side into R. Even ears.

Broken Marked U8 – 5

1st [log in to see names] D Red, 8 spot. A very nice mouse indeed. the kind of broken you want to see. Had a Very pleasant nose spot with an opposite ear spot to go with (bonus). A small spot under (Bonus). The shape and placement of spots overall was excellent. A Clear winner. This Mouse went on to win BOA in Grand Challenge.
2nd [log in to see names] D Black, 8 Spot. short muzzle, holds back, otherwise a nice mouse.
3rd [log in to see names] D Agouit, 8 Spot. Almost a pied mouse. The spots were more reminiscent of jigsaw puzzle pieces. Small spot under (bonus). More refinement needed, work on more uniform spot shape.

AOV Marked Ad – 2

1st [log in to see names] Hereford D Agouti. Good head markings. Too much white on the tail. Marking under extend into forearms, but stop well short of the vent. Remember the markings under should go from between forearms and terminate at the vent.
2nd [log in to see names] Banded D Fawn. A great effort for such a difficult variety. Banded was to jagged and extended into L front leg. There was a small bruise in L ear. Needs work on type, ears very small.

AOV Marked U8 – 4

1st [log in to see names] Hereford B Blue. Good Effort. Tail and feet markings very good. Marking under connects to the head marking under chin.
2nd [log in to see names] Even Marked D Red, 9 spot. Colour lacking depth and falls behind because of. Nice Twin nose spot and twin ear spot, a very good effort.
3rd [log in to see names] Hereford D Choc. Lovely face. R forearm white. Marking under not extending to vent.

AOVs

Gold Agouti / Cinn Ad – 7

1st [log in to see names] Agouti B Very even ticking all over, great depth of colour, very level under. A fit healthy mouse, exactly the condition an exhibition mouse should be in.
2nd [log in to see names] Agouti B Very similar to first, but a bit fat.
3rd [log in to see names] Agouti D Lacks depth of colour to first two. Less even under. Some white toe nails on right front foot.

Gold Agouti / Cinn U8 – 7

1st [log in to see names] Agouti B Some light toe nails and a little fat. But most even of the class.

3rd [log in to see names] Cinnamon D Bold eyes, better depth of colour than the remainder of the class.

Chinchilla / Fox Ad – 3

Argente Ad – 1

1st [log in to see names] B An ok mouse on the whole. Line under and moult across back holds back.

Argente U8 – 2

1st [log in to see names] D Nice little mouse best for colour and under coat, silvering coming through and should look great as an adult.
2nd [log in to see names] D No silvering leaving this mouse looking like a fawn, only the under coat gives it away as an argente.

1st [log in to see names] B Good depth of colour and shading. Ticking across the rump.
2nd [log in to see names] D Better evenness over back. Well behind on red under. Tail motley coloured.

General Comments

A pleasure to judge with [log in to see names] and [log in to see names]. The superb Dutch BIS was a unanimous decision. Generally, the young Selfs were better than the adults, with the exception of the blacks. A few entrants were out of condition and quite a few more were lacking type. Thanks to the secretary, the catering team, and [log in to see names] for stewarding. A very enjoyable event.
