A genuinely enjoyable show day, with a real buzz to it! It was really encouraging to see some new faces and lots of interest from the public! Chris and Sophie did an awesome job as always running a great day for all to enjoy. Shout out to Amelia who expertly ran the kitchen, keeping my coffee topped up all day and also cleaning up at the end. Thank you Indie you were a super steward. The mice were a mixed bag, the self section was on the whole poorly represented. That being said, I’m happy to say all exibits were healthy and there were no DQs! Congratulations Chris, a truly beautiful Champagne, given a few more weeks and it really will take some beating! Ian’s roan were looking really good and came a close second in the grand challenge.

Selfs

White (pink eye) Ad – 0

White (pink eye) U8 – 1

1st [log in to see names] B Of poor type. Ears were small and set high. Eyes small and squinty. Short in the body giving a coby appearance. Fur under was thin.
Tail was very good, thick and fleshy at the base and of decent length.

Cream Ad – 0

Cream U8 – 1

1st [log in to see names] B Again another mouse of poor type. Small ears. Short in the body. Thin tail. Colour was a grayish white, not cream. The mouse had a distinct yellowing between the eyes.
Eye was bold, bright and large.

Black Ad – 2

1st [log in to see names] D Better for overall colour than 2nd place. However there were some tan hairs on the chest and the fine hairs cover the inside of the ear were also tan. Feet were better than second having all black toes.
2nd [log in to see names] D Ahead on type but marginal. Back feet, all white toes. Chest had a sepia/brown cast across it.

Black U8 – 2

Blue Ad – 0

Blue U8 – 4

1st [log in to see names] B The most luxurious velvety textured coat really made this mouse standout! Colour was in my opinion just right, how I’d imagine medium slate blue to appear. There was unfortunately a little bit of tan hairs around the vent. Ears could have been a bit larger.
This mouse was wild!
2nd [log in to see names] D Similar to 1st in size and shape, but much easier to handle. Behind on coat, and colour a bit lighter.
3rd [log in to see names] D Skull thin, and ears set too high. Coat a bit rough.

1st [log in to see names] Chocolate D Little bit of moult on chest, couple of white hairs on back.
2nd [log in to see names] Chocolate D Lovely big buck. Zero tan around the vent. Would have won the class had it not had a small blemish on the right side of its nose.
3rd [log in to see names] Chocolate D Similar to the other two mice, but tanned vent and moulty chest.

AOC BE Self U8 – 3

AOC PE Self Ad – 4

1st [log in to see names] Champagne D This mouse was absolutely class! Finished to perfection, coat sleek and not a hair out of place. Fit and racey looking. Head and ear placements ideal, and size of ear complained the head perfectly, neither too big or small.
The colour was a soft subtle champagne with almost a soft pinkish hue. No hint of a tan hair on vent!
It was evident this was a young mouse, probably just over 8 weeks, and therefore could not be marked down for lack of size compared to the redt of the class. I applaud Chris for his honesty in entering it in the adult class!
Given a few weeks to get up to size this mouse will take some beating.
BIS and well deserved.
2nd [log in to see names] Dove B This was a great mouse! It didn’t win its class because the was a patch of very thin hair on back leg, likely where a scab has been previously.
Beautiful dove grey colour, even across coat. No light nose. Type and size, that of a good pew or cream. Finish just behind 1st.
3rd [log in to see names] Champagne B Another very good mouse of superb type. Not the finish of 1st.

Gold Agouti / Cinn Ad – 0

Gold Agouti / Cinn U8 – 2

1st [log in to see names] Agouti B Tiny bit of moult on head, wins overall finish.
Colour rich deep and fiery especially for a young mouse. Ticking was good and fairly even, ever so slightly concentrating on spine.
2nd [log in to see names] Agouti B Slightly more even in ticking that 1st. Colour very similar.
A patchy moult on left back leg possibly regrowth after a bite ? Held back from 1st.

Chinchilla/Fox Ad – 2

1st [log in to see names] Chocolate Fox B Wins on overall finish. Better eye and ear. Under was thick and well furred.
2nd [log in to see names] Chocolate Fox B Ticking better, but marginal.

Chinchilla/Fox U8 – 1

1st [log in to see names] Chocolate Fox B A nice mouse, and great when viewed from the top. Good colour. Eye bright and bold. The mouse was let down by thin under, the darker hair root was showing through, giving and almost ticked appearance.

SP/BP Siamese Ad – 3

1st [log in to see names] SP Siamese B Actually a very pleasant mouse. Points were well coloured and dark. Shading nicely graduated. Colour a little dark, more brown than beige, but wasn’t far off. Unfortunately, a big moult line running across from shoulder to shoulder.
2nd [log in to see names] BP Siamese D Very good points, nice and dark. Virtually no shading at all. Infact it could have more likely passed as a himalayan rather than a siamese. Work to be done.

SP/BP Siamese U8 – 3

1st [log in to see names] SP Siamese D A very attractive u8. Good colour, points and shading already for a young mouse. No moult marks at all. The nose was a little blunt which held it back later on. But otherwise a great little mouse.
2nd [log in to see names] BP Siamese B
3rd [log in to see names] BP Siamese B

Argente Ad – 2

1st [log in to see names] D Exceptional length of tail, and good thickness at root tapering nicely. Wins Best tail of the day! Excelled in type. Nice even silver ticking. Colour was soft and subtle. The shade I prefer. Good blue undercoat.
Had a terribly large moult on entire head, which stopped it progressing. Had that not been there this mouse would have gone quite far.
2nd [log in to see names] B Lacked the silvering the variety should have. Far too dark, it was almost the colour of a good fawn.

Sable U8 – 0

Roan Ad – 3

1st [log in to see names] D Black. Most even top and under, best for finish. Just behind in grand challenge as could have had a bit mice white nearer rump.
2nd [log in to see names] B Similar to 1st, white hairs a slightly more prominent. Small clump of white and small clump of black on head.
3rd [log in to see names] B Possibly the best of the three, but a watery eye held back. Could have been the bedding, maybe try something softer like hay or tissue paper.

Roan U8 – 2

1st [log in to see names] D Most even, thicker fur under.
2nd [log in to see names] D Close 2nd.
