Club Secretary Transition
I will be wearing two hats from now on, the webmaster’s and the club secretary’s. A good combination in a way as I have transferred the membership database to the website and have an inkling how things are supposed to work. You will not notice the technical changes if you don’t know, and you don’t need to, to be a member. If you don’t use the website, that’s fine. Nothing will change for you.
Running things behind the scenes takes experience, and following in
‘s footsteps will be a major challenge. So what you might notice is that sometimes there will be a spanner in the works, or two. I may also paint myself into a box sometimes. But thankfully, has agreed to guide me and help me from the sidelines until I know what I am doing. I hope it will be a smooth transition. At the same time, I want to state for the record that I understand and promote the values and traditions of the club, whose objective it is to breed fancy mice true to the NMC’s Standard of Excellence and to encourage members to compete with each other for the best prizes at NMC shows. Keeping the standard alive is what we all try to do as active members. Seeing new and younger members exhibit alongside our older and experienced members makes me hopeful that we will navigate the challenges that new technology, social media, and the shift in our society towards the more technical pursuits bring to the mouse fancy.
I am taking over the post of Club Secretary as of 1 Nov. You can email me on clubsec@thenationalmouseclub.
