GENERAL COMMENTS

What a privilege to judge the top show in our calendar, thank you Mick for the invitation, and for the very nice judge’s memento. It was a lovely experience altogether. Thanks to Mick and Sarah for their secretary duties, Andy Leach for his impeccable stewarding, and all the exhibitors for letting me see their stock close up. It was good to judge alongside my fellow-judges Stuart and Bob. Between us we have a lot of experience to draw on!
My section contained a lot of high quality mice, some of the classes being really challenging to put in order. Congratulations to Andy on BIS with an outstanding young Cream—in the Grand Challenge, all three of us went for that without hesitation. Also noteworthy were Stephan’s Blacks, really fit shiny mice with never a white hair among them and proper round tails; and I particularly liked the one Chocolate, beautiful colour but a complete set of white toes on the hind feet, not one to breed with. Less impressive were the square tails on the vast majority of the Whites. They need a bit of work.

GENERAL COMMENTS

I thought I would enjoy judging Doncaster, having not done so for many years due to me running the show.
However, although I enjoyed judging the early classes, I found the later classes very tiring and the lighting was the worst I have ever experienced. Therefore I have decided to hang up my judging coat and not judge again. Hooray! I can hear many of you say.
The Cream of Andy Leach’s was a worthy BIS winner. I hope most of you had a good day and hope to see you throughout the year. Thank you to Mick for the 100th Bradford Show memento, a very nice thought.

Judge: B Chappell Tans & Marked

GENERAL COMMENTS

Thank you to Mick for inviting me to judge at Doncaster again, and also for the memento, made extra special being the 100th Bradford Show.
There were some nice mice in my sections but some of the Black Tans were very wild. The Best Tan was a very smart u8 Choc of Phil’s. I would like to see this when it’s an adult. Best Marked was a very nice u8 Broken of Stephen’s. The mice that were best in their sections were also real quality.
A pleasure to judge with Ruth and Stuart and thank you to John for stewarding, and congratulations to Andrew on going BIS with a lovely u8 Cream.
