GENERAL COMMENTS
It was great to see such a good entry for the first Harlow Open of 2023. My thanks to Eric Jukes and Terry Sales for inviting me to judge and to Laura Birchall my steward on the day who did an exemplary job. Overall there were some very nice mice and it was particularly gratifying to see some of the rarer varieties making an appearance, in particular a very attractive variegated and a lovely brindle. If I had one negative observation to make it was that a few mice were shown with quite clear faults and unfortunately I had to disqualify one exhibit for a suspected URI (Upper Respiratory tract Infection). In addition I had to put off the table a mouse that was in the auction class but had a scab on its back. Those issues aside, I thoroughly enjoyed my judging engagement and congratulations to all the winners, in particular Stephan who took both top honours on the day with a cracking little self Black and a very nice Chocolate Broken respectively.
