Judge: M Davis Tans, Marked & AOVs

GENERAL COMMENTS

After a break of several years since my last judging engagement I was delighted to accept Jim’s invitation to judge at Peterborough. Little did I know what would await me! A total entry of 228 mice must be one of the best turnouts for quite some time. Thankfully I was co-judging with Ann Storey so my gratitude and thanks go to her.
Overall the mice I judged were of a good standard and shown to their best on the day. As I was judging the Marked section I was ready to face the odd wild Dutch, however to my surprise it was actually a couple of Tans that were very aggressive and attempted to bite me every time I tried to take them out of their Maxeys. Needless to say they were removed from the table!
My Best in section winners were all lovely mice and worthy winners. When it came to the Grand Challenge, Ann and I did deliberate over the mice in front of us but it didn’t take too long to agree on the BIS, Henry’s beautiful Silver Agouti Satin, stunning to look at and an absolute monster of a mouse. It was very heart warming to see what the result meant to Henry.
I must also give a special mention to Andy Leach who was my steward for the day and did a fantastic job ensuring the right mice were in front of me at exactly the right time, he really made my job a lot easier. Thanks Andy .

Watching the judging keenly at London Championship is Henry van Raaij, winner of Best in Show with a Silver Agouti Satin

GENERAL COMMENTS

Thankyou Phil for asking me to judge at the London. This is the first time I’ve been asked to judge for the NMC, although I have been judging for L&SCMRC for some years.

I really enjoyed it, there were some lovely mice on show who were a credit to their breeders. My best mouse was the silver agouti satin adult doe shown by Henry van Raaij, a cracking and enormous mouse who has had two litters I understand. She later went BIS.

Thank you also to my steward, the show secretary and my fellow Judge Mike Davis.
