I hope you are all enjoying the glorious weather. Mice do not share our pleasure of sunny days. After last year’s record temperatures which killed some of my mice, I have made some alterations to my mousery management. Pregnant does have naturally elevated body temperatures and for that reason are the first to succumb to heatstroke.
Litters of mice in the nest generate high temperatures so nursing does are also highly vulnerable. With this in mind I greatly reduced pairings at the end of May and this is proving highly effective in keeping everyone comfortable and is a measure that costs nothing.
I had hoped to have some special mementos made for the summer cup but for a number of reasons never got round to it. Prize money had to suffice. I hope to rectify for the Christmas show at Swinford.
